Vernal Pools Heroes

      Join us for an exciting program about vernal pools, the hidden gems of early spring! In this two-session program, each running for an hour, we will explore the ecological importance of vernal pools and discover the amazing amphibian species that rely on them as nurseries. 

        During the first session, we will learn about vernal pools as unique ecosystems. We'll discuss how these temporary pools provide essential breeding habitats for various amphibians, including frogs, salamanders, and newts. Through engaging activities and interactive discussions, we'll explore the lifecycle of these fascinating creatures and understand the vital role vernal pools play in their survival. 

      In the second session, we'll put our knowledge into action and embark on a journey to identify the amphibian species that inhabit local vernal pools. We’ll venture into the park to observe and document these incredible creatures. 

     Our experienced rangers will guide us in identifying different species, teaching us about their unique characteristics and behaviors. Don't miss this opportunity to become a vernal pool hero! 

The First session will be held on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

The Second session will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 11:00am to 12:30pm.
