Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Join us for Mason Neck State Park's Earth Day Celebration, where community unity meets nature's beauty! Family, friends, and community groups of all ages can enjoy nature-themed games, hands-on activities, and educational hikes.

Self-guided Activity:

10:00 am – 3:00 pm: Community Shoreline and trail cleanups

Give back to nature and join the community clean up effort! Plan to get a little wet and dirty, gloves available with limited supplies. See a ranger at the Visitor Center for directions!

Guided Programs:

10:00-11:30 AM: Nature Journaling @ Playground Area

Learn how to make an up-cycled Nature Journal and fill your journal with family-friendly crafts or discover what journaling in nature mean to you!

12:00-1:00 PM: Earth Manners Hike & Roll @ Dogue Trail

Learn how to care for the planet on a guided, wheel-chair accessible hike with a ranger! Approximately 0.85 miles, packed gravel.

1:30-3:00 PM: Garden Globes @ Visitor Center

Use recycled materials and native flower seeds to make an Earth shaped seed ball. Take it home to grow your own patch of wildflowers! Expect small hands to get a little wet and dirty.
