Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

By Shellie AnnePosted October 13, 2015

Social media abounds but there are only so many of us who can even attempt to duplicate the great photos and experiences you all are sharing with us on the many social media channels. And if you are not seeing us on all these places online, well we don't want you to miss out on any of the fun.

Allow me to introduce you to Virginia State Parks on Instagram, and you will quickly agree we are very instagrammable.

Thank you for sharing your love for Virginia State Parks online with your family and friends. We could never share it the way you share it from your unique point of view.

I have to admit when I saw the Westmoreland State Park cool photo above I immediately thought it was of the Golden Arch in Cabo San Lucas Mexico. What an eye for detail the photographer had to capture the Potomac River that way. Here is his instagram account @mikewhetstone67 if you would like to follow him as well.

If we don't see you at the park, we look forward to seeing you online
