Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Hey yawl, meet my new friend Mercedes. One reason I think Mercedes is so cool is that this dawg likes to eat as much as I do.

Mum if you are reading this remember my three favorite foods are: BACON BACON BACON!

She agrees that half of the fun after hitting the trails at Virginia State Barks are the yummy treats we get afterwards (Mum calls them rewards). Dawgs, it's okay if you agree with Mercedes and me, there's no shame in that.

Mercedes is one cool dawg who digs Virginia State Parks - her favorite past time besides swimming at the parks is not the trails; however, it is the food!

Hi! My name is Mercedes and I'm an old black Lab, I am 11 years, is that old?

I love Virginia State Barks; particularly, Belle Isle State Bark because of all the trails that I can walk with my favorite person (my Mom).  And, there's plenty of room to park our RV and entertainment on weekends.

GET YOUR TAILS ON THE TRAILS!

I like the cabins at Bear Creek Lake State Bark and James River State Bark, and we also do some hiking there, but my favorite thing to do, besides swimming, is eat!

Our next outing is going to be Lake Anna State Bark and we're staying in a cabin (can't wait!)

CALLING ALL COOL DAWGS

If you are a cool dawg with a story from your walkies at a Virginia State Bark, I wanna talk to you! If you want to be featured in my new blog series "Waggin' Trails" send me an email here with your name, a photo of you at a Virginia State Bark and some info on your favorite trails. If you have a fun story to go with it, then that is even better!

See part 1 when I introduced this series here.

Remember, paws were meant to get muddy!
