York River State Park Estuaries Day

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Don't forget to mark your calendars!!  Check your fishing gear, clean your hiking booths, and charge up your camera because York River State Park is hosting Estuaries Day on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  In addition to guided hikes, paddling tours, and research boat trips, this year's watershed event will feature radio station Movin 107.7 FM from 10am-12noon and geologist/paleoarchaeologist Dr. Jerre Johnson showing off his collection of millions (even billions) of years old fossils, algae, dinosaur bones, and mammoth tusks.

Click here for last week's blog with all the registration information about Estuaries Day programs.  Make a whole day of it, pack a picnic lunch, and do some fishing off the park's Croaker Landing fishing pier after the Estuaries Day festivities are over.  Lately, people have been catching croaker and blue crabs near the pier.
