Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. A cozy cabin in the woods and more adventures awaited us at Bear Creek Lake State Park.

We enjoyed hiking at Bear Creek Lake State Park and overnighting at our cozy cabin in the woods with this lakeviewOur cabin at Bear Creek Lake State Park has a water view and was our base camp for other park visits

January 16-18 Bear Creek Lake State Park

We stayed at Bear Creek Lake State Park during a weekend of park visits; prior to arriving here we hiked Twin Lakes State Park.

After leaving Twin Lakes State Park we drove a little less than an hour to Bear Creek Lake State Park. We'd reserved a cabin almost 2-months ago out of shear excitement about the trip, and we're glad we did because our cabin had a beautiful view of the lake, quick access to trails (they all did), and we weren't the only ones with the idea to visit the woods in January.

The cabin was perfect for our weekend and, apart from Rigby being terrified of the fire, was just the right level of cozy.

Our first evening at Bear Creek Lake State Park we tracked along Lost Barr Loop, and in day two we got a full hike of Lost Barr Loop in, which was lovely, took us past an old section of forest fire, up into the ridge, and along the creek and lake. Our intentions were to hike more, but timing, weather, and exhaustion set in.

We definitely recommend this park for an extended stay. Its connection to Cumberland State Forest offers extensive hiking opportunities --- we'll be back!
