Fairy Stone State Park is a favorite park to so many, being one of the original 6 Virginia State Parks that opened simultaneously 80 years ago. The history seen and felt here in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) built roads, facilities and recreational areas is immense and when you drive across the threshold at the contact station you are transported back to a simpler time.

Since 1936 Fairy Stone State Park has been instrumental in creating fond memories for many generations of Virginians, as well as out-of-staters.

PROS

Cabin 18 is near two other cabins in a cluster of 3 which make them perfect to rent as a small group, where each family has their own cabin (and cooking facilities, etc.), or for a group like a retreat or girlfriends' getaway.

A screened in porch makes it great to have a dog outside the cabin to enjoy the fresh air, bird songs and nature, yet safely secured.

CONS

The same as the pro, if you wanted to be more secluded there are two more cabins nearby, but of these three cabins this one is water facing and provides the most privacy. This is not one of the original historic CCC log cabins, which many park goers enjoy.

While there is a back door off the kitchen it is not screened, so you wouldn't want to leave it open (as insects and rodents may sneak in). The kitchen itself does not provide much space to work, and the work station is lower for accessibility purposes.

gary (June 18, 2016 11:04:34 PM): I have looked all over your sites and cannot find an answer to my question.

Is there any discounts to disabled veterans ??

Virginia State Parks (April 12, 2016 03:25:38 PM): Christina - we replaced the furniture in the cabins this fall and now have queen beds in nearly all of our cabins.

Christina O (April 12, 2016 03:18:59 PM): we rented one of the cabins in 2015 and had a great time, enjoying the outdoor a lot. Just the double bed it a little to small for us (and be are pretty slim people)
