The American Hiking Society and Virginia State Parks have teamed up to provide you an amazing opportunity to connect with nature, meet people with like-minded interests, and have a memorable vacation all while working on a week-long trail building project. 

Hungry Mother State Park features nearly 18 miles of trails

Hungry Mother State Park is hosting a week long Volunteer Vacation in September (September 25 to October 1, 2016) and we invite you to join in on the fun! Lodging in a historical bunkhouse, meals, tools, and team supervision are included in the registration fee - just bring your personal clothing! There will be plenty of free time to explore the 18 miles of trails within the park and volunteers can look forward to a bike ride on the Historical Virginia Creeper Trail or a day hike at Grayson Highlands State Park.

Never been hiking or done trail work before? We welcome you! This trip doesn't require any prior trail work experience, just a good attitude and a willingness to get a little dirty!
