Many park goers do not realize that there is an "other" category for more upscale overnight accommodations at Virginia State Parks. What I am calling other is not official, and probably not what they would be known as at the Customer Service Center when you call them. But there are a few options that don't fit under the category of cabins or camping, so let's explore those options.

Overnight Accommodations

First of all let's discuss the cabins at Virginia State Parks. You can go to this page to read all about them, or call 800-933-PARK Monday through Friday. Alternatively you can visit a park's webpage specifically and click the cabins, camping link on the left sidebar. This will bring up information about overnight facilities, or will tell you there are no overnight facilities like York River State Park:

"None at this park (day-use park)"

Virginia State Parks offers overnight accommodations with more than 300 comfortable, climate-controlled (read HVAC) cabins of various sizes and layouts across the state, with many cabins available year-round. The cabins vary in size and number of bedrooms, from the one room efficiency (read honeymoon) cabins at Douthat State Park, to the larger lodges of Claytor Lake State Park. They all have one thing in common, a wonderful way to escape the madness and mayhem of the daily grind and spend time with the ones you care about.

Cabin rates can be found here.
