The holidays mark the time of year when many of us are rushing to find gifts, create dinner menus, bake tasty treats, all while trying to entertain guests. There comes a time when you need to stop long enough to reflect on what Christmas means to you. And we have the perfect way to do just that with The Lighting at Tunnel at Natural Tunnel State Park which helps create long lasting family memories.

This special event features thousands of lights lining the way to the mouth of the tunnel, hot chocolate, roasted marshmallows, and this year, Santa. The sounds of local entertainers lead the crowd in some of the best known Christmas carols. And Christmas stories are told by The Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association dressed in 1775 period attire as they talk about one of Scott County's older structures remaining, Carter Cabin.

On November 27, 2015, the event kicks off with the annual “Give a Friend a Lift” night.

It is a time for all of us to be kind to one another and to give back and help our communities as much as we can. Help give back by bringing in non-perishable food items to be distributed to a local food bank or shelter in need. Help us make several families Christmas a little brighter by collecting over 500 items. Items can be brought in that evening at the chairlift building. Individuals that bring in non-perishable food items will receive a free chairlift ride for that evening only. This is a one day event.
