Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Kids Virtual Fishing Tournament

Join us at Widewater State Park for a Virtual Kid's Fishing Tournament from October 17 -18! Cast out your line and see who can catch the biggest fish from the banks of the Aquia Creek, Potomac River, or Long Pond.

Each Participant will receive a bag with an informational pamphlet for new anglers, a poster, and a coloring book. The tournament is open to ages 6-12. To register, visit the Visitor Center or contact the park at (540) 288-1400.

Prizes will be awarded to First, Second, and Third place.
