Join us at the Staunton River Battlefield as we commemorate those of the United States Armed Forces who gave the last full measure of duty and devotion to the nation and its people. A ranger will discuss the battle that took place at the historic river bridge crossing and lay a ceremonial wreath in honor of the day’s observances.

This program will highlight the flying insects that fly through our park! We will get some butterfly nets and try to catch some floating fancies as we learn about the types of bees that help and the ones to avoid. Join us to learn about the secret lives of dragonflies.   We will meet at the Clover Center and participants will discover the backpacks that we have available at the park when you visit. Please call the Clover Center at 434-454-4312 for more information.

Join us at Mulberry Hill where a ranger will discuss the importance of Juneteenth, one of many “freedom days” that began in Texas, now having gained popularity across the country today. A special program will discuss enslaved life at Mulberry Hill, with an examination of the institution during the wartime years. The program will cover what freedom looked like across the country and in Virginia, and how the former slaves of Mulberry Hill and the surrounding area maintained their newly found freedom.
