Have you ever seen a WWII Concrete Ship?   Why were they built?  What are they doing in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay?  Join Kiptopeke State Park as we travel through history and celebrate 75 years of the Concrete Fleet.  Learn about the history of the Concrete Fleet and why Kiptopeke State Park is home to 9 of them.  There will be history exhibits along with exhibits and demonstrations from our maritime partners.  Special Partners for this event will include: the U.S Fleet Forces Stewards of the Sea, the Marmc Stem Team, U.S Coast Guard Cape Charles, Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Dr.

Want to see the Concrete Fleet up close?  Join us during the 75th Anniversary of the Concrete Fleet for a guided boat tour.  Boat tours will be 30 minutes long.  $20 per person paid at time of tour.  Space is limited to 6 people per tour.  Reservations are required and will only be accepted through email.  Children under 5 are not allowed.  To reserve a spot email stephanie.venarchick@dcr.virginia.gov.  Reservations are first come first serve.

Looking for a fun service project this Earth Day?  Join a park ranger as we clean out flower beds, weed the walkways, and plant native species at the Big Water Visitor Center.  Come prepared to get your hands dirty, bring gardening gloves and wear appropriate clothing.  All ages are welcomed! .

Want to become a Junior Park Ranger?  Join us for some fun activities, games and arts & crafts.  We will have a Park Ranger dress up station, build your own bird house station, shell identification station and our self-guided Junior Ranger Booklets.    Saturday May 18th from 10 am to 12 pm.  Meet behind Picnic Shelter #2. .
