Earth Day is a time of celebration and appreciation here at First Landing. Over the course of two weekends, join the Rangers for some fun while learning about how we all can do our part to take care of our planet. Each day will feature a particular theme in environmental conservation. Join us by participating in programs, checking out our community partner tables, and completing self-guided activities. Come back each day to learn new ways to love our planet!

4/21 - Breaking it Down: Compost Style

11:00am - Dirt Don't Hurt Composting Workshop: Get the low down on the basics of composting with this DIY workshop all about waste, worms, and what you can do to help. We will be making 'mini' compost bins in a jar to practice the do's and don'ts of responsible composting. Limited jars will be available, although you are free to bring your own!

2:00pm - There's a Fungus Among-Us Guided Hike: Follow a Ranger through the forest as well look for fungi and explore the wildly essential nature of decomposers in our world. 

* Visit with Tidewater Compost's community partner table at the Trail Center to learn the word on compost resources here in Hampton Roads!
