Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

2024 Solar Eclipse Viewing

April 8, 2024. 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Come and view the partial eclipse at Widewater State Park! The full astrological event is 2.5 hours long, with an 88% coverage during the peak of the moon's arc.. The next solar eclipse that can be viewed in the lower 48 is not until August 2044! So make sure to not miss out by bringing proper eye safety. The park will only have a limited number of disposable eclipse viewing glasses for $1 each, plus tax. If you would like an alternate means of viewing the eclipse, you can join us the day before on April 7th to learn how to make a pinhole viewer! Eclipse peak: 3:20pm

Eclipse end: 4:30pm
