Join us for an unforgettable Valentine's Day event, “Love the Unloved,” at Widewater State Park!

In the Visitor's Center, you will be able to encounter some of nature's most misunderstood creatures, such as live snakes, cockroaches, and others, while learning from our knowledgeable staff about the importance of these animals in their ecosystems. Misinformation is often spread through folklore, social media, and popular movies, which has caused these animals to be labeled as scary and "unlovable." This event offers a unique opportunity to encounter these fascinating animals in a safe and educational environment while also learning the truth behind the misinformation.

In addition to these encounters, you can indulge your sweet tooth with a variety of confections provided by the park and you can get your picture taken for a take-home memory of your encounters with these "unlovable" animals. There are bathrooms available to wash your hands, as well as hand sanitizer on request.

Love the Unloved is a family-friendly event that caters to all ages. There is a $2 fee per participant to cover the cost of food and take-home photo. The event goes from 3:30pm - 5:30pm in the Visitor Center.
