Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Basic Archery

The use of bows to shoot arrows has been a part of global history for thousands of years whether for defense, survival, or sport. This basic archery session provides instruction to those new to archery and shooting time to those already familiar with bows. All equipment is provided, although our equipment is not suitable for youth under eight years of age.

Space is limited, so advance registration and payment through the park office is required. The program fee is $5 per person. Restrooms and water are not available at the archery range. Groups of over eight people can request a session for your group at times other than the regularly scheduled sessions by contacting: bcguide@dcr.virginia.gov.
