Outdoor Archery Range

When

Nov. 3, 2023. 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Join our interpretive ranger for a guided evening hike. We will stroll through the forest to explore the influence of the fall season on the natural environment. The goal is to make our way to a beautiful view of Buggs Island Lake where you will practice primitive fire building using Leave No Trace (LNT) techniques. In addition to creating an environmentally friendly campfire, you will be challenged to build a fire without matches. Traditional fire building with flint and steel is an art worth learning. We will enjoy our LNT fire with smores and stories of the people that once inhabited this region. If we are lucky, we will hear an owl, see bats and learn about other night creatures that inhabit the park. Be sure to bring a good flashlight and a lightweight camp chair if you prefer not to sit on the ground. We will wrap up the evening by night hiking back to our starting point.

Meet at the Outdoor Archery Range to participate in this evening adventure. and don't forget to dress for the weather, temperature can drop significantly as the daylight wanes.
