All Day - Follow our blazes through any of our six trails or blaze your own trail on many of our lakeside scenic open areas this National Public Lands Day at Claytor Lake State Park. Several self-guided opportunities are available focusing on history, plant and tree identification, and more. Please see our self-guided activity fliers posted on kiosks throughout the park. In recent years, our trails have seen a lot of use. If you or your group are interested in helping to maintain or improve any of our trails you may want to sign-up for our Adopt-a-Trail program. This is a FREE parking day.
1:00 pm - Invasive Plant Removal @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D - Learn about the many invasive plant species that have found their way to our park as you assist rangers in their removal. Gloves are recommended for this activity. We will also be replacing the invasive species we remove by transplanting native plants or spreading native seeds.
7:00 pm - Campfire and Owl Prowl @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D - Celebrate a successful day with free s'mores by the campfire followed by a search for the three species of owls commonly found in Claytor Lake State Park.
