First Day Hikes

We are looking forward to 2022 and our series of Ranger led First Day Hikes.

December 31, 2021: 11 p.m. -1 a.m.-New Year's Eve Night Hike- Hike in the new year. Moderate to advanced 2.3-mile hike. Not suitable for kids 10 and under. Meet at Camp Store.

January 1, 2022

8 a.m.-Swift Creek Dam Hike, for all ages. Meet at Swift Creek Banquet Hall for approximate 1-mile loop. Leashed pets welcome.

9:45 a.m. Powhatan Trail Hike. One mile loop over gentle hills. Meet at Playground by swim complex.

9 a.m.- 4 p.m.- Facilities Open Explore the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum and Visitor Center. Self-Guided Activities info available.

10:45 a.m. Little Tyke Hike, for children 6 and under. Stroller friendly, less than one mile. Meet at CCC Museum.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Orienteering with Central VA Orienteering Club. More information can be found HERE . Meet at Visitor Center

11 a.m. A Bright Hope-One mile, easy. Meet at Main Office

12:30 p.m. Big Poplar Trail- One mile, moderate. Meet at Visitor Center

12:45 p.m. Trail-Mix Hike- moderate 3.5-mile loop designed for everyone and leashed pets. Meet at Visitor Center

1 p.m. Forest Trail Fun- Explore often overlooked Forest Trails, including Moseley and Wilkinson. 2.5 miles. Suitable for all ages/abilities/strollers. Meet at CCC Field. Download the Geocaching app for extra adventures. 

2:45 p.m.-Group Camp 7 Hike, 5-mile hike to learn more about the history of the park. Meet at Bright Hope Horse Complex

UPDATE: We are currently rescheduling a food truck. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the Visitor Center
