Natural Bridge, Va. – Natural Bridge State Park has added a new electric GEM shuttle to enhance visitor access to one of Virginia’s most iconic landmarks.
The new vehicle provides convenient transportation from the visitor center down to the trail store along Cedar Creek Trail, a path that requires navigating 137 steps. Every now and then, visitors need assistance to access the bridge, and the new GEM provides the park with the ability to meet their needs.
The purchase of the GEM shuttle was made possible through the generosity of the Rockbridge Community Health Foundation and the Friends of Natural Bridge State Park. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to both community health and environmental stewardship by promoting sustainable, low-emission transportation within the park.
“We are excited to introduce this new electric shuttle as another way to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the wonder of Natural Bridge,” said Park Manager Jim Jones. “We are grateful to the Rockbridge Community Health Foundation and our Friends group for helping us make this a possibility.”
The electric shuttle runs on an as-needed basis. Visitors can request the shuttle by stopping by the visitor center or calling 540-291-1326.
Visitor center hours vary depending on the time of year. For more information, visit www.virginiastateparks.gov/natural-bridge.
