RICE, Va. – The annual Firefly Festival returns to High Bridge Trail State Park on June 20 and 21 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

This event provides guests with a unique view to experience the fireflies lighting up the nighttime sky from the iconic High Bridge. This festival will include food trucks, insect displays and souvenirs will be available to purchase. Guests will also be able to hear from insect experts about the natural world of fireflies and will be treated to an introduction to the park from a ranger.

“We are selling more tickets this year to allow more visitors to experience the beauty of the park during this magical time,” said High Bridge Trail State Park Manager Daniel Jordan. “Be sure to reserve your spot soon because tickets usually sell out for this family-friendly community event.”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 4-11 years old. There is no charge for children 3 and under to attend. Ticket price includes parking and event attendance. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the gate.

Festival parking and event access will be at the High Bridge Station entrance located at 1466 Camp Paradise Road, Rice, Va.

Gates for the event will open at 7 p.m. for festival attendees. The High Bridge Station entrance will be closed during the day, on both days, for the event.

The Firefly Festival will be held rain or shine.

No flash photography or flashlights allowed on High Bridge. Red lights and glow sticks are allowed.

While pets are allowed in the park during the day, they are not allowed at this event.

For more information about the Firefly Festival, visit the park’s website.
