CLARKSVILLE, Va. – Occoneechee State Park is excited to announce the return of its popular Music in the Park series, offering a season of live music performances set against the beautiful backdrop of Buggs Island Lake.

The series kicks off on May 24 and will feature a diverse lineup of local and regional artists. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of music under the open sky.

Concerts will take place at the park's amphitheater. Each performance is free; however, the standard parking fee applies.

Event details:

  • May 24, 6-8 p.m., Open mic night: The parking fee will be waived for performers, who should arrive between 5:15 and 6 p.m. to sign up.
  • June 28, 6-8 p.m., Local Area Pickers: Join local musicians for a laid-back ‘pickin’ session. The parking fee will be waived for visitors who bring an instrument and participate in the jam session.
  • July 26, 6-9 p.m., MaMa BriBri and The Stranger: This acoustic/electronic duo will take visitors on a musical journey as they play everything from Johnny Cash to Michael Jackson and everything that falls in between.
  • Aug. 23, 6-9 p.m., The Tobacco Road Band: Their music is a blend of soul and blues, country and southern rock and roll.

Music in the Park is sponsored by Friends of Occoneechee State Park and VFW Post 8163.
