WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Registration is open for the Spring Bloom Adventure Race. It will be held at York River State Park on April 26 and April 27. The annual event invites participants of all skill levels to embrace the beauty of spring while testing their endurance and navigation skills.

Unlike other races that have roped-off courses, adventure races require participants to navigate to marked checkpoints using a map and different modes of travel. The goal is to make it to as many checkpoints as possible within the time limit.

Spring Bloom Adventure Race offers 15-hour and 4-hour competitions. The 15-hour race will be held on Saturday, April 26, and includes hiking, paddling and biking portions. Then, on Sunday, April 27, participants have more beginner-friendly options: a 4-hour race with hiking, paddling and biking and a 4-hour no-bike race.

Participants can compete solo or on a team of two, three or four. There’s also a family division in the 4-hour race category.

"We are excited to welcome new and seasoned adventurers to York River State Park for the Spring Bloom Adventure Race," said Park Manager Charlie Whalen. “It's a fantastic way for people to experience the park's natural beauty and challenge themselves in a fun, supportive environment.”

The race will be held rain or shine. Registration prices increase on Feb. 28. The race sells out every year, so early registration is encouraged. To register and view the race rules, please go to broadrunoffroad.org/spring-bloom-adventure-race.

The Spring Bloom Adventure Race is part of the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series, presented by Dominion Energy, and organized by Broad Run Off Road. To learn more, please go to virginiastateparks.gov/adventure-series.
