BENTONVILLE, Va. – Raymond R. “Andy” Guest, Jr. Shenandoah River State Park is thrilled to announce the return of the Shenandoah River Adventure Race and Aquablaze Adventure, set to take place this September. These events are expected to draw participants from across the region for a weekend of thrilling competition and outdoor excitement.

The Adventure Race, scheduled for Sept. 7, offers 12-hour and 6-hour options, which include kayaking, mountain biking and trail running sections. Participants can compete solo or as a team of two, three or four. Registration closes on Sept. 1 and is capped at 75 racers.

Then, on Sept. 8, Aquablaze Adventure will return to Shenandoah River State Park. Aquablazing is when Appalachian Trail thru-hikers kayak or canoe a portion of the trail. Now, explorers have the chance to experience an Aquablaze along the Shenandoah River with a backdrop of Skyline Drive.

Aquablaze Adventure offers 18-mile and 26-mile course options, which include kayaking and trail running. Participants can compete solo or as a team of two. Registration closes on Sept. 4 and is capped at 75 racers.

“We’re excited to bring these dynamic events to Shenandoah River State Park,” said Park Manager Dustin Haymaker. “Our park offers the perfect backdrop for adventure racing, with its diverse terrain and stunning natural beauty. We look forward to welcoming participants and spectators alike for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend.”

The Shenandoah River Adventure Race and Aquablaze Adventure are part of the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series, presented by Dominion Energy, and organized by Rev3Endurance. To learn more, please go to virginiastateparks.gov/adventure-series.
