MEDIA ADVISORY: Congressman Rob Wittman to participate in National Volunteer Week event at York River State Park
WHAT: National Volunteer Week is celebrated in the third week in April. It recognizes the many volunteers who give their time and talents to causes that make a difference in our communities.
U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman will join officials from the Virginia Service Commission and Virginia State Parks to thank Virginia State Parks AmeriCorps members and volunteers at York River State Park. The congressman and several of his staff will participate in a service project alongside AmeriCorps members. This informal program includes interpretive demonstrations and brief remarks that will provide an overview of the program’s educational opportunities and benefits.
Participants will include Congressman Wittman, Virginia Service Commission Director Kathy Spangler, Virginia State Parks Director Dr. Melissa Baker and York River State Park Manager Charlie Whalen.
