Westmoreland State Park is accepting applications for Housekeeper Ranger positions.

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for cleaning cabins and lodging facilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary focus includes proper and prompt cleaning of cabins, restrooms, campground bathhouses, and other park structures.
Efficient turnover of overnight facilities before check-in time and ability to work with little to no direct supervision.
Will be responsible for inventorying linens and cabin supplies to ensure they are available for the next guest.
Performs the light maintenance and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities.
May be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on a non-recurrent basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to stand, bend, and work outdoors exposed to the elements.
Must be able to work well with other staff and park guests.
Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Additional Considerations:

Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices related to the work site.
Demonstrate the ability to work on your own.
Knowledge of the operation of manual and power cleaning equipment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
Must be able to follow oral instructions.
Able to perform a variety of cleaning tasks and to tolerate contact with a variety of cleaning products and solutions.
Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time to perform manual labor safely.
Ability to handle issues arising in the use of the facility by visitors.

Special Instructions:

Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.
Employment Eligibility: Selected candidates must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify.
Driver’s License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business.
Work Requirements: Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.

- Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
- Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night before a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
- Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins, and yurts are included; one-night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
