DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.

Bear Creek Lake State Park is seeking applicants for the Housekeeping Ranger position. The primary focus of this position includes proper cleaning of 13 cabins, a meeting facility, bunkhouse, campground, beach area bathhouses, park office, and Park Ranger office. Efficient turnover of cabins by check-in time is required. This position will inventory cabin supplies to ensure they are available for the next guest.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidate will have a combination of experiences, education and/or training in one or more of the following areas: public relations, housekeeping, maintenance of building, grounds and equipment; general knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools and the use of various cleaning supplies/equipment. Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and the use of cleaning supplies required. Must be able to work well with diverse staff and park guests. This position requires the ability to perform manual labor throughout the work day, the ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 25lbs from the ground to waist level. Must have reliable transportation. Must attend mandatory paid training.
Preferred Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent or actively enrolled in school. Previous experience working in a housekeeping or janitorial setting.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and evening shifts. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with the job. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30. Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Employer participates in e-Verify.
