DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.

Westmoreland State Park is seeking applicants for the Office Manager Assistant position. This position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assists park visitors by providing information on the park’s facilities and programs along with local points of interest and attractions in the area.
  • Operates electronic cash register and collects appropriate user fees while maintaining required revenue accounting forms and reports. Performs registration procedures for campers, cabin guests and adventure program participants.
  • Serves as a dispatcher of the Park’s radio system, relaying radio calls to both Maintenance and Park Law Enforcement personnel.
  • Provides all aspects of administrative support for the state park. Responsible for incoming calls and guest services and provides accurate and detailed information on campsite and cabin reservation procedures, directions, pricing, trail information, park interpretive programs and local area information.
  • Oversees proper revenue collection in Visitor Center and contact station. Assists with training new hire and returning seasonal staff in areas such as revenue collection, shift settlement, merchandise sales, and customer service.
  • Responsibilities could range from entry-level to supervisory level and may include complex administrative tasks such as report writing, reconciliation of information or financial data, records management, scheduling, personnel administration, inventory, and funds collections or expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Experience leading, training, and/or supervising others.
  • Ability to accurately make change for park customers and balance revenues collected.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work harmoniously with the public, volunteers, co-workers and supervisors.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience working with and serving the public.

Special Requirements: Must be available to various shifts, and work weekends and holidays. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with this job. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30. Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background check. Employer participates in e-Verify.
