Job Description:
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to work in the Public Communications and Marketing Office. This position helps plan, develop, monitor and evaluate marketing campaigns and related activities that increase public understanding and support for the services provided by DCR. The marketing activities include researching marketing trends and target audiences, organizing and tracking media buys, implementing marketing strategies and reporting on campaign effectiveness in support of the marketing for Virginia State Parks and all divisions within DCR. The position will collaborate with the Public Communications and Marketing Office team and DCR stakeholders to ensure that all marketing activities support agency priorities. This position may telework but will be expected to be in the office two days a week at the DCR headquarters in downtown Richmond. Ability to travel is not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in an interactive communications environment
Experience in managing marketing campaigns and media buys
Ability to create, manage and execute effective marketing and communications strategies
Demonstrated ability to write ad copy, website copy, social media posts and print materials
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively and constructively with supervisor, coworkers and external customers
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects and perform successfully under tight deadlines
Strong organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
1 year prior experience working in marketing, advertising, communications or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited college or university with degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, marketing or related field or a combination of education and work experience
