Job Duties
Assist SEAS with the $1 Million/3-year INSR grant from NFWF; the project includes a verification component (as described above) focused on the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, and Eastern Shore.
In addition, the SEAS Program Assistant would review shoreline permitting data provided through a Virginia Marine Resource Commission database and provide verification information that will be utilized to conduct on-site verifications and/or be utilized by the SEAS Program Assistant to conduct verifications through an approved process utilizing GIS and aerial imagery.
The employee will assist with grant deliverables and related projects as assigned. This position is based out of the Tappahannock Regional Office.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of nonpoint source (NPS) pollution fundamentals, including primary pollutants, their origins, and reduction strategies.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Ability to plan effectively, manage projects, and perform duties with minimum supervision.
Proficiency in using MS Office (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal education in the fields of natural resources, environmental science or agriculture or demonstrated knowledge, skills & abilities in these areas.
Formal education or demonstrated knowledge of geographical information systems and aerial imagery.
