DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.
Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.

Hiring Rate: $14.00/hr
Position Numbers: WE006, WE009, WE030
Outgoing and responsible individuals with a strong interest in working with a wide variety of customers needed to assist with interpretive duties throughout the Park. As a member of the Park's Visitor Experience team, will plan and present a variety of programs focusing on the natural, environmental, historic and cultural features of Westmoreland State Park. Programs may include campfires, music programs, nature crafts, environmental history, and outdoor recreation skills, guided hikes and kayak trips. Interpreters are responsible for keeping the Discovery Center open and organized. Will also assist with schools groups, scout programs, fairs and park programming. Will inform park visitors of rules and regulations for the purpose of protecting and preserving Park natural areas. May be required to perform park related duties as needed during emergencies or on a non-recurring basis. Be willing to work shift work to include weekdays, weekends and holidays, with occasional evenings. Training will be provided at no cost.
Qualifications: Excellent customer service skills. One year of college with major or minor study in one of the fields of natural sciences or history desirable. Have basic knowledge of Virginia's flora and fauna, and the ability to plan, organize and conduct tours and programs featuring them. Familiarity with outdoor skills techniques in watercraft or hiking helpful. Must be comfortable with public speaking, and dealing with the general public. A valid Virginia Driver's License is required.
