Find parks matching your amenity choices. When the heat is on, it's time to get wet. Whether you like a pool, lake, river or bay, Virginia State Parks are great places to cool off while enjoying nature's finest settings. Many swimming facilities also have snack bars and other amenities to make your dip even more agreeable. Even better, swimming is nearly always free for overnight guests. So pack up the kids, sunscreen, shades, beach towels and sun hat and head to a Virginia State Park.

Swimming is generally available seasonally from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Unexpected circumstances (e.g., weather, mechanical failures, lifeguard availability) may force closure of the swimming area or limit swimming. From Memorial Day to mid-June and mid-August to Labor Day, swimming hours may be reduced. If swimming is important to your visit, please check with the park prior to your scheduled visit for up-to-date information.
