CHESTERFIELD – Join park staff and other volunteers to better understand how important donating your time can be at Powhatan State Park.

The volunteer event will take place Nov. 12 at Shelter #1 at 9 a.m. and run until noon. You will be able to meet Friends Group members, learn how they help the park and also learn how you can help. Hear about Virginia State Parks Volunteer Program perks and benefits as there are park projects and other opportunities available that will be shared.

“We really appreciate the help from the local community that contribute to the park’s growth and success,” said Powhatan State Park Manager Amelia Hulth. “Many projects wouldn’t have been able to get done without the help of our friends group. We are looking for adults of all ages that have some outdoor skills and interests in donating their time to the park.”

Volunteers are an essential part of the park’s team and you would be surprised to know how much donating as little as a couple hours a day will impact the park. Powhatan State Park is located in the central part of Virginia and provides a wide variety of volunteer options.

Use your skills and passion to benefit Powhatan State Parks as well as join a committed team of staff to help keep the park running smoothly, maintain trails and gardens, answer visitors’ questions and so much more.

Refreshments will be served and there will be several prize drawings for Powhatan gifts and apparel. This event has optional participation in volunteer projects at the historic cemetery and/or tree craft activity at picnic shelter.

Free parking for attendees.

Rain date is Sunday, Nov. 13 from 1p.m. until 4 p.m.

For more information about this event, contact Powhatan State Park at 804-598-7148.
