This Earth Week, come participate in the inaugural Southwest VA State Parks Nature Challenge!

Let’s show off how amazing our parks can be for wildlife this spring!

This is a seven-day 'bioblitz' nature hunt, to assist in recording and protecting wildlife in our parks. Take part in friendly and fun competition to see who can gather the most observations of nature and find the most species.

How it Works: Visit your favorite Southwest VA State Park during Earth Week (April 21-27) and use nature apps iNaturalist, Seek, or Merlin to document plants and animals. It's as easy as that!

The park with the most observations will take home the Nature Challenge title (although citizen science is the real winner here!).

Participating Parks:

Clinch River State Park , Grayson Highlands State Park, Hungry Mother State Park, Natural Tunnel State Park, New River Trail State Park, Southwest VA Museum Historical State Park
