Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Are you someone that finds the different types of fossils found here at Chippokes State Park, absolutely fascinating? Unraveling the lives and deaths of these ancient animals can give us clues about the environment they lived in and how it changed over time.

This artsy program is designed with creativity and science investigation in mind...let's learn about fossils while participants create and paint their very own fossil cast art piece.

This program is limited to 12 participants (due to supplies and artwork station space). Each person participating must register and pay for the program in-advance at the Visitor Center. Please bring your receipt to the Quayle Classroom.
