Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Just as caterpillars grow and change, our Caterpillar Club programs are designed to help your little one grow and change. Each week, we will have you and your child(ren) exploring our natural world through a variety of seasonally appropriate, hands-on activities that will foster children's inborn sense of wonder and curiosity. These experiences are gauged towards early childhood (3-5 years old), but of course, all family members are welcome and encouraged to participate. Every program supports Virginia's Blocks for Early Learning.

Please dress for the weather. We are meeting at Shelter 1. It is the shelter next to the playground by the Aquatics Complex.

March 7 - Sock Puppets: March is National Craft Month, so join us in making puppets out of gently used socks to put on the best shows in town.
March 14 - Wigglin' Worms: As the ground thaws, the worms come out to play. Learn all about how important worms are to everyday life.
March 21 - Frolicking in the Forest: Explore the forest with us and find out what calls these woods home.
March 28 - Teddy Bear Picnic: Picnic season is right around the corner. Bring some snacks and your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy the spring season.
