Do you like to hike? Explore our trails and learn something new with some special programming: 

11 a.m. Bear Aware @ Shelter 4
What should you do if you encounter a bear on the trail? Learn some tricks on how to coexist with one of our largest animals in the landscape. 

2 p.m.   Trick Your Stick @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D
What is the perfect sized walking stick for you? Bring your own stick or take one of ours and use crafting supplies provided by the rangers to create your own uniquely designed item.

4 p.m.   Search for Sasquatch @ Shady Ridge Trail Head (near Shelter 2)
Do you believe in bigfoot? Join a ranger on a trek for tracks as we attempt to locate one of the nations most famous cryptids. Many critters call Claytor Lake home, you never know what you might find.

8:30 p.m.   Glow-in-the-Dark in the Park @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D
Join the rangers for a unique hiking experience. Using UV lights, we will search for some of our florescent mammals such as flying squirrels and opossums. Why do these animals glow under UV light? Join us and find out!

Self-guided Opportunities:

Virtual Tree Tour: Learn how to identify trees as you hike from the Howe House to the beach. For more information check out the detailed event listing here.

Track Trails: Find our track trail opportunities at the Shady Ridge Trailhead (near Shelter 2) and go on a fun an interactive hike for all ages! Don't forget to visit to track your hike when you're done for free prizes.
