Starting this week, day and overnight visitors to our Virginia State Parks can provide feedback on the park and their visit on line instead of completing a paper survey, and a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!

To promote the new way to provide feedback, we will be doing monthly drawings from the responses we receive. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate good toward overnight stays, shelter and meeting space rentals, and our annual passes. The certificates will be redeemable through our Customer Service Center at 800-933-7275. You will have to provide your email address or mailing address to win the monthly contest. Depending on the amount of surveys received, we will also add other prizes to the drawings like Annual Passes and Day Passes.

Our Your Comments Count Surveys are critical to our management of parks. We need your feedback so we know what areas to work on to do a better job in meeting our visitors’ needs. We do a good job getting surveys back from overnight guests, but often our day use visitors, especially our repeat visitors, are underrepresented. In addition to specifics about the stay, the survey asks what activities visitors participated in and what new facilities or improvements they would like to see in the park. Every survey is read in our central office and passed on to several staff in our parks and district offices. The results are also used as our Division’s score card for evaluation by the Governor and Secretary of Natural Resources.

Parks will have posters and fliers that list the new on line survey URL and a QR code for visitors with Smart Phones to take a shortcut to the survey site. Visitors who prefer to complete the paper version of the survey may still obtain one from the park office.

Rich (November 03, 2016 05:08:11 PM): Visited Sailor's Creek Battleground Park on 11/3/2016. The Park is beautiful. The museum is great and worth the visit. But the best of all was the guided tour. Jim did a fantastic presentation. His knowledge of the area and the Civil War was really impressive. There is also a self guided tour with many displays. Jim mentioned High Bridge Park, which is near. That is also a must see park. Ask for directions to get to the best entry at that park.

Tammie Croom (September 06, 2016 11:46:54 AM): We went to Grayson Highlands park for the Albert Hash Festival. The park is breathtakingly beautiful. We will definitely return and would like to do a hike. One of my favorite state parks I've been to.

Gretchen (August 08, 2016 01:04:07 PM): During a stay at First Landing State Park we drove over to Kiptopeke State Park for a short visit and picnic lunch. While there we stopped at the gift shop and the staff member there was very informative and friendly. I didn't think to get her name, but we were there at about noon on August 8, 2016. Thank you!!!

Marcus johnson (July 13, 2016 05:21:58 PM): Stayed one week at lake anna.Had a great time.Looking forward to coming back many times in the future.

Virginia State Parks (June 16, 2016 02:02:21 PM): We had hoped to get a large capital budget for this fiscal year. The Governor added it to his budget but it was significantly cut before everything was said and done so we don't have a plan yet to upgrade the bathhouses at Staunton River. It is certainly something we want to do but we are at the mercy of the funding.

Ervin Gill (June 16, 2016 01:19:49 PM): Love Staunton River Park do you have any idea when the restroom and showers are going to be upgraded? Fairy Stone has been upgraded twice in the past few years and are really nice.

Dawn Robinson (August 16, 2015 10:38:49 PM): August 11, 2015 - Our boy scout troop took a van from Hungry Mother to New River and rode bikes to Austinville, and then took a trip on the New River by canoe. we had the greatest time, and learned a lot about the area. It's so convenient to have the bikes and canoes there for us. What a great price for a full day of fun. We can't wait until next summer to do more of the trips and this one again. Thanks so much for offering this service. We would never get to experience this without you. thanks again
