Governor McDonnell Celebrates Earth Day at Pocahontas State Park

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell celebrated Earth Day at Pocahontas State Park with a special Stewardship Virginia event on Friday, April 20.

Governor McDonnell studies the Tree Identification Guide
on the Hike led by Park Naturalist Krista Weatherford
Students from Grove Avenue Christian School and a homeschool group participated in the event which included a tree identification hike lead by Park Naturalist Krista Weatherford. The Governor then planted five River Birch trees with the students. Governor McDonnell presented each student with a Stewardship Virginia certificate for participating.
