41st annual Hungry Mother Festival July 18-20 at Hungry Mother State Park
(MARION) - The Hungry Mother Festival will be held July 18-20 at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion, Virginia.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It features artists, crafters, musical artists, dancers and a variety of food vendors.
The 41st annual Hungry Mother Festival is the longest running festival held in a Virginia State Park. It is presented by the Art League of Marion, in partnership with Charter Media. Virginia State Parks are managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Exhibitors and vendors will be throughout the park. Items for sale include baskets, decorative wood, pottery, furniture, jewelry, candles, fine art, soaps, stained glass, as well as food and drinks. Demonstrations of frontier life will be provided by the Frontier Men.
Parking is $6 per vehicle. A special three-day weekend pass is $9. The town of Marion will run a free shuttle between the park and downtown, where several weekend events are planned. A free shuttle within the park also will be available.
The Art League of Marion uses festival proceeds to fund college scholarships to deserving Smyth County students continuing their education in art, music and theater. Proceeds also benefit a countywide high school art show as well as a variety of programs and community causes that promote the arts.
