Pork, Peanut and Pine Festival July 19-20 at Chippokes Plantation State Park

(SURRY) –The Pork, Peanut and Pine Festival will be held at Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry July 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Now in its 39th year, the Pork, Peanut and Pine Festival will feature music, Southern food, artisan crafters and children’s activities. Chippokes Plantation State Park is one of the oldest continuously farmed plantations in Virginia.

“The Pork, Peanut and Pine festival is a great way to get outdoors and celebrate Virginia’s agricultural and artisan heritage,” said Park Manager Nathan Younger.

Special programs include mansion tours, a parade of antique cars and a concert line-up featuring Kasey Rae, Flatland Bluegrass Band, Main Street Band, Nansemond River Boys, Rick Dellinger and Hard Knox.

Admission is $5 per person; children under 10 are free. For more information, visit www.porkpeanutandpinefestival.org.

Chippokes Plantation State Park, located on the south side of the James River, features a campground, four historic cabins, a swimming complex, visitor center, historic area and the Farm and Forestry Museum.
