Celebration of Summer Festival at Claytor Lake State Park June 9

(RICHMOND, VA) - Claytor Lake State Park's 15th annual Celebration of Summer Festival will be held Saturday, June 9. There will be a full day of activities with beach music, arts, crafts, food vendors and much more.

 The Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre will perform songs from the Broadway musical Oklahoma at 11:30 a.m. Other entertainment includes the Uptown Trio and the Part Time Party Time Band. Southern Nights will perform beginning at 7:30 p.m. and continuing until after the fireworks. Fireworks by Grucci will be at dusk.

 The award-winning Virginia State Parks are managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

 The day's events begin at 7 a.m. with the Everett Lee Yearout, Jr. Adult/Youth Fishing Tournament and Essay Contest. Trophies and awards will be presented in the afternoon.

 Other activities throughout the day include the Old Dominion Historical Fire Society's Antique Fire Truck Drive-in, the annual car show, children's activities, and remote airplanes performing tricks and stunts. Virginia wineries Attimo Winery, Christiansburg, Virginia Mountain Vineyard, Fincastle, Homeplace Vineyard, Chatham, and Stanburn Winery, Patrick Springs, will offer wine tastings.

 Other exhibitors include Pulaski Fresh Farm to Table and the Claytor Lake Sailing Association as well as the Coast Guard Auxiliary demonstrating helicopter landings and search and rescue techniques.

 The celebration is sponsored by Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley, and the Claytor Lake Festival Committee.

 The parking fee is $10 per car or $5 with five cans of food.
