Public meeting on Lake Anna State Park master plan to be held April 25

RICHMOND — A public meeting to gather comments on proposed updates to the Lake Anna State Park master plan will be held Monday, April 25, at 6 p.m., at the Dominion Resources Building in Mineral, Va.

Staff from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will present an analysis of the site, including constraints and opportunities of the property. They also will share proposed changes to the master plan, including recommendations to build a new visitor center and amphitheater.

A master plan is written for each state park to serve as a guide for development. Amending the plan is a public process, and public meetings are held when major changes are considered or new parks are acquired. Lake Anna State Park has gained 778 acres since the last update to its master plan.

Lake Anna State Park opened in 1983 and today is 2,810 acres. The park is a popular place for boating, fishing, camping and horseback riding.

The Dominion Resources Building is at 1022 Haley Drive, Mineral, Va. For more information, contact Lynn Crump, environmental programs planner at DCR, at 804-786-5054 or lynn.crump@dcr.virginia.gov.
