VLCF Funded Projects

Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. The interactive map below depicts VLCF-grant projects funded since 2000.

Description:

The 88-acre Shiflett II Tract is within the Core Area of the Piedmont Battlefield in Augusta County. The property is actively farmed and contains open pastureland, and forestland along with one-half mile of frontage on the Middle River. The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation received funding to acquire the property and place it under an open-space easement with the Virginia Board of Historic Resources. Public access will be allowed 365 days per year.
