Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. Description:

Threewitts LLC will place a Virginia Department of Forestry open-space easement on 672 acres in Surry County, adjacent to the Dendron Swamp Natural Area Preserve. This project will serve as a buffer to the preserve, and is part of the targeted management area designated by DCR’s Natural Heritage Program. This property is an active Century Farm with 450 acres of forestland, 200 acres of farmland, 200 acres of wetlands, and over 11,000 feet of frontage on the Blackwater River. The Virginia Department of Forestry received a $450,000 grant for this project.
