Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. | Description: | The American Battlefield Trust seeks to preserve the three-acre Mauller Tract near Manassas in Prince William County via fee acquisition and the recordation of a historic preservation and open-space easement to be held by the Virginia Board of Historic Resources. The tract is located entirely within the Core Area of the Second Manassas Battlefield and is improved with a small single-family residence and two outbuildings. The property is mostly open with scattered trees and includes 423 feet of unnamed intermittent stream bed. The Trust intends to restore the tract to a natural state by demolishing the existing structures and offer periodic tours. |
