Sky Meadows State Park is accepting applicants for an Administrative Assistant position.
Job Summary:
This position assists the Office Manager in daily administrative duties and provides support to park staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Duties include but are not limited to processing invoices and procurement support using electronic systems while maintaining compliance with Commonwealth guidelines, daily revenue reconciliation, deposit preparation, cash management, producing routine reports and correspondence, processing payroll and other confidential employee paperwork.
- Troubleshoots problems with office equipment and software systems.
- Maintains equipment and supplies.
- Provides excellent customer service and accurate information to park visitors and co-workers, including answering phone calls and e-mails.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of employee and park records.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills to work well with co-workers and the general public and to perform highest quality customer service.
- Basic knowledge of office practices and working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar office applications.
- Must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Familiar with operating a computer, point of sale system, counting money, and making change.
- Flexibility to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Additional Considerations:
- Experience in office administration, customer service and fiscal processes.
- Experience providing administrative support in a park or other related field.
- Prior customer service and cash handling experience.
- General knowledge of park operations and local attractions.
Special Instructions:
- Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.
- Employment Eligibility: Selected candidates must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify.
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business.
- Work Requirements: Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.

- Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
- Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night prior to a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
- Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins and yurts are included; one night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
