DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.
Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications (Word) for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.

Pocahontas State Park is accepting applications for the Maintenance Ranger position!
We are seeking individuals who are dependable, motivated, and comfortable working independently and part of a team to fill this position. The Maintenance Ranger performs recurring grounds care, maintenance, light construction, and housekeeping of Virginia State Park facilities. Duties include but are not limited to: cleaning bathhouses, restrooms, cabins, and meeting facilities; mowing grass; weed eating; leaf litter raking/removal; trash, and litter removal.
The position is ideal for individuals who can work a minimum of 32 hours per week, Memorial Day through the end of August.

Special Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old. Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Must be willing to work weekends, day and evening shifts, and holidays, with the majority of shifts being on the weekend. This position is limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with this position. The individual chosen for this position must wear uniform consistent with park standards. A uniform shirt and hat will be provided.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.

What We Offer

Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night prior to a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins and yurts are included; one night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
