Hiring rate: $15.50 per hour
Work with minimum supervision, prioritize tasks and interact positively with the public. Job duties include: managing the daily operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, and trail system. This entails a variety of tasks which varies according to the day of the week and the number of visitors or activities. Directing the work of the maintenance staff in the absence of the park ranger is a major element of the position. A large portion of the work includes maintaining the Park’s facilities and infrastructure. Tasks throughout the year will include: painting, mowing/general landscaping, trail work, carpentry, plumbing, electric, vehicle and equipment maintenance, assisting with resource management projects as needed and any other duties as assigned on a temporary or long term basis, based upon the Park’s needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicant must have the ability to understand simple verbal and written instructions, work in a team environment and attend mandatory paid training to comply with OSHA requirements. Must be able to work with crew members in the performance of their tasks. Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed and provide some uniform components. Valid driver’s license is required. Year round position with a maximum of 1500-hours per year.
Additional Considerations
Previous Supervisory experience and/or experience in the following areas is preferred: lawn maintenance, plumbing, electrical repair, construction, facility/equipment/vehicle maintenance and repair. Knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, commercial mowing equipment, chain saw equipment, power tools, hand tools, etc., is preferred. Experience working in a town/county/state/national park, or similar outdoor setting is preferred.
Special Requirements
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
